Single and Looking for Love This Valentine's Day? Why Not Try a Dating Marathon

Two single ladies have decided that a dating marathon is the solution for their lack of prospects this Valentine's Day, and have committed to a 24-hr speed date-a-thon over at SpeedDate.com to see if they'll find love, or at least a date for the big night.
25-year old, New York City resident Sarah Clark and 27-year old, San Francisco based Francesca Salcido have already started their quest, and are competing against each other on the free dating site to see who can garner the most dates, and well as to see which city around the country has the most eligible singles.
I'll be checking out Sarah and Francesca later today to see how they've fared, and may even take on a date or two myself. What about you?

With only four days to go, I'm still getting a lot of questions about St. Valentine's Day. Where should we go? What should we do? What do I do with a gift that I bought in anticipation for February 14th now that we broke up? How do I honor a day of love when I'm not feeling very loving or lovable? And the most asked question of late: How do I meet someone before St. Valentine's Day?
Because of (and to answer) these questions, I'll be blogging lots on the topic in the next few days. For now however, I've posted a What To Do For St. Valentine's Day index, and want to ask: When single, do you celebrate St. Valentine's Day? Being Single on Valentine's Day

Depending on how much you appreciate Valentine's Day and all that it entails, being single on the love-filled event can be a challenge for many. Some go so far as to avoid the day altogether, like a forum poster who recently declared, "I Hate Valentine's Day!"
I feel for anyone who is both sensitive and single on Valentine's Day and would rather not be. Although most of my previous relationships have avoided all mention of the love-fest (save one romantic partner who went all out with roses, chocolate and a truly luxurious homemade dinner), I'll admit that there were a couple of single and looking years when I felt somewhat frustrated that I wasn't being wooed. From those years came the creation and adoption of several coping mechanisms, some of which I've shared in Being Single on Valentine's Day.
Do you do anything special for yourself on Valentine's Day when single? What would you suggest to anyone who doesn't necessarily want to be single on Valentine's Day, yet is?
90% of Dating Fraud Perpetrated on 20 and 30 -Something Women, Says Taiwanese Report

The Taiwan News reported earlier today data from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the National Police Agency, and who was most affected by fraud in 2008. According to the information presented, it wasn't elderly folks living in rural areas that were the most susceptible to online dating fraud, but rather urban women in their 20s and 30s.
Of the total 41,093 cases of fraud reported last year in Taiwan, 5,803 were 'interactive dating fraud' -related, while 2,183 were 'online interactive dating fraud' -related. (Sorry folks, I wasn't able to determine how these differed from one another. Perhaps one refers to face-to-face dating contact, while the other only online dating interactions?)
But if that weren't surprising enough, the CIB also collected data about the astrological signs of those taken advantage of via dating scams. From their statistics, they determined:
"... an individual's sign of zodiac did not offer any insight into a person's vulnerability to fraud because there were no significant differences between the signs in the number of people who fell victim to online dating fraud."
